Almost High Holidays!
High Holiday prayer books are being scanned and will be made available for all to use either on their computes for to print out. Coming soon! Rabbi Menachem is putting together a Cheshbon HaNefesh/spiritual inventory exercise for the holidays. Details to come! Rosh HaShana is Friday, September 18 and Saturday the 19th. Rabbi Menachem will be at the beach at the end of Greenleaf Ave in Rogers Park with a masked shofar and baggage to throw into the water, on Sunday afternoon, the 20th, 3-4pm cst. Come on down! If you have an idea for a session in-between or after worship, please let Rabbi Menachem know. [email protected]. We may not have use all suggestions, but all will be considered. I’ve spent decades as a devout atheist on the outside (but seeker within). Then I attended High Holiday services for, oh, the the first or second time in decades. You brought new, evolving relevance to the prayers; a DIY bima brimming with participants; soulful tunes that flat-out JAMMED; and to my delight, meditations rooted in ancient wisdoms most (all) conventional congregations fear and altogether shun. You have threatened my beloved, bitter assumptions. Now what? We shall see; I don’t intend on being a stranger.
Shalomz! —Bob We are not gathering for Shabbos tonight, but tomorrow night, the 20th, is a Hannukah party with the residents of Covenant House assisted living. 6-8pm 2720 W Foster, at California 5th floor lounge. Tonight at the Solarium! Friends, food and fpirit! 1245 W Jarvis #3 7:30 Pot luck. No tickets or reservations required.
